Trends in Bathroom Remodel

Bathroom remodeling is near the top of homeowners’ lists of dream projects. Recent trends in home bathroom design may make it more irresistible than ever to finally get your bathroom redone. Many couples move to older homes on the Main Line and want to redo the bathroom as soon as possible. Here are a few things to dream about:

Freestanding tubs and custom showers: Deep soaking stand-alone tubs come in many beautiful designs. Custom walk-in showers can include multiple heads for showering with your significant other, built-in seating, rain shower heads, heat lamps, and even a skylight to let the sun or moon shine in.

Wet room: You can take the custom shower and tub one step further with a wet room. Separated from the other amenities in the bathroom, a wet room houses the shower and tub with waterproof materials on the walls and doors – glass, mirrors, or tiles, whatever you decide.

Smart bathroom: The trend toward smart houses has made its way to the bathroom. Smart toilets can include automatic open and close features, auto flush, built-in deodorizer, self-cleaning, and more. Smart showers can be set to start for you in the morning. Built-in blue tooth speakers, voice-activated lighting and temperature controls, televisions, and mini-fridges are just a few of the options available.

Underfloor heating: Keep your feet toasty with heated flooring.

Oversized wall tiles: Large wall tiles limit the grout and come in a wide variety of styles, from sleek to retro to whimsical.

Floating vanities and quartz countertops: Quartz is long-lasting, durable, and stain-resistant, which makes it ideal for the bathroom. Vanities that do not reach all the way to the ground but rather “float,” attached to the wall to create an open and stylish feel.

Storage: Storage is trending toward sleek and minimalist, providing you with all the space you need to hide all your hygiene and beauty needs while keeping your bathroom looking clean and crisp.

Barn doors: Sliding barn doors are still a popular item, which can be used for the door entering the bathroom, the shower or wet room doors, or storage space.

Wood or faux wood accents: Design trends are heading away from gray and cool colors to warm tones and nostalgic looks. Wood can be used as accents or cabinets in areas not affected by high humidity, such as outside a wet room, or faux wood features can be used in areas that may experience moisture. Even floor tiles can come in a waterproof wood look.

Back-lit mirrors and mood lighting: Create the feel you want with your lighting to create your own oasis. At the same time, you’ll need functional lighting on mirrors that avoids shadows or harsh tones so you can tell how you will look in office light, on a sunny day, or during a romantic evening.
